TIME.com: Inside Pelosi's Power Play -- Page 1
I don't like the idea that Pelosi is making a power play. It's not helpful to the democratic party she is supposed to lead in the house. It is also not helpful in unifying the party. She would have been much better served in consolidatting her power to have made some deals behind the scenes so that this didn't happen. I understand her logic in supporting Murtha. As George Miller is quoted as saying in the Time article "He gave the Democrats a place to stand on Iraq." That may be a smart move for her. I would tend to think it isn't, primarily because of Murtha's potential corruption issues, but I at least understand the reasoning. I see no reason, however to stick it in the face of Hoyer and his supporters publicly. That is arrogant and unnecessary.
