OIG_foia_RamosCompean.pdf (application/pdf Object)
The inspector general's report is logically inconsistent with the remarks of U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, the prosecutor in the Ramos and Compean case who has recently been on the defensive. Contrary to Sutton's statements that they had no evidence with which to charge or convict the Drug Smuggler, the OIG report plainly says that prior to granting him immunity, the Drug smuggler admitted to the investigator in Mexico that he had been smuggling drugs. In fact that is how they found the agents involved, there was only one incident of drugs with an escaped driver in the appropriate time frame. The Drug Smuggler could easily have been charged with the crime, if the US Attorney wanted to do so. The question is, why didn't they want to?
